Equal Opportunity Employer
The Miami Parking Authority provides equal opportunity employment to all employees and applicants for employment. No person working for the Agency is to be discriminated against in employment because of race, religion, color, sex, age, national origin, disability status, HIV/AIDS, pregnancy or pregnancy related conditions, marital or veteran status.
Furthermore, it is the Agency’s policy to comply with all federal, state and local laws regarding equal employment. The Agency will continue the practice of informing employees, managers and applicants of the Agency’s nondiscrimination policy. The Agency is committed to the principles of nondiscrimination and affirmative action. Additionally, recruitment advertisements, employment applications and job postings will include the statement, “Equal Opportunity Employer.”
Men and women receive equal pay for equal work, which means equal skill, equal effort, equal responsibility, performed under similar working conditions. This policy applies to all terms, conditions, and privileges of employment including, but not limited to, hiring, training and development, promotion, transfer, compensation, benefits, educational assistance, layoff and recall, social and recreational programs, employee facilities, termination, and retirement.
Adhering to this policy, the Agency has established an Affirmative Action Program to demonstrate the Agency’s commitment to achieving prompt and full utilization of minorities, the disabled, and women at all levels and in all segments of the workforce. The results of the program are to be reviewed quarterly, and the program is to be modified as necessary to achieve its stated objectives.
The Director of Human Resources is responsible for formulating, implementing, coordinating, and monitoring all efforts in the area of Equal Employment Opportunity.
Internship Program
Miami Parking Authority is committed to the future leaders of our community. We are proud to continue our Summer Internship program that provides an average of four students each year the opportunity to work at MPA during eight weeks of their summer recess. Students are chosen from inner-city high schools.
MPA summer interns are selected by school counselors and interviewed by the Authority’s Human Resources Department. Students experience the full employment process, from filling out an application, interviewing and waiting for an offer letter. Once accepted, interns work in various MPA departments including Customer Service, Finance, and Human Resources.
Students are encouraged to be involved in every aspect of their department. The Miami Parking Authority hopes to provide interns with a positive “real life” experience of holding a steady job.
How to Apply
Interested students should contact their school’s work/study employment counselor. School employment counselors will perform initial screenings and present a list of potential candidates who meet age and residency requirements to Miami Parking Authority for further testing and consideration.
