Q: What is Pay by Phone?

A: Pay by Phone is an easy and convenient way to pay for parking using your Smartphone.

Q: How can I register for Pay by Phone?

A: It’s easy. You only need to visit the Pay by Phone website: to register. When you register, the system will prompt you for information such as your mobile telephone number, email address and credit card that will be used to pay for parking. Once registered, you will need to download the Pay by Phone mobile app.

Q: Once I find a parking space, how do I start my Pay by Phone session?

A: Once registered, you only need to park, click on the Pay by Phone app on your Smartphone, as your account information is already stored, enter the location number, select how long you wish to park for, confirm and you will be done!

Q: What kind of mobile phone can use with Pay by Phone?

A: Any Smartphone, such as Apple, Android or Blackberry. By going to the Pay by Phone website,, you can click on the appropriate link for your Smartphone to download the mobile app.

Q: How can I avoid getting a parking ticket when using Pay by Phone?

A: Pay by Phone has a feature that will alert you via text message when your parking session is about to expire, thus allowing you to extend the time without having to walk by to the vehicle and avoid getting a citation.

Q: How much does it cost to register for Pay by Phone?

A: Registration is free. You will only pay a surcharge when you use Pay by Phone to pay for parking. Starting December 1, 2014 the Miami Parking authority will absorb the surcharge, so there is no additional fee above and beyond the parking fee.

Q: Does Pay by Phone require a minimum of minutes or hours?

A: No, customers have the ability to add the number of minutes or hours up to a maximum of three hours consecutively in a particular location.

Q: Are the Pay by Phone rates the same throughout the city of Miami?

A: The rates are the same throughout Miami.

Q: Can I use Pay by Phone outside of the limits of the city of Miami?

A: Yes, you can use Pay by Phone in Miami, Coral Gables and South Miami.  The recent addition of Coral Gables to Pay by Phone has expanded the contiguous service area, thus allowing customers in these three municipalities to use the same system to pay for parking.

Q: How do I extend the parking session using my Smartphone?

A: You can simply extend the time by clicking on the “extend” feature on the Pay by Phone mobile app or by calling 1-866-990-7275 (PARK) before the parking session has expired.

Q: How do the parking officers know that I have paid for parking?

A: When you pay for parking using Pay by Phone, your parking status will be displayed on the handheld device used by the enforcement officers.

Q: Can we add other vehicles to the same Pay by Phone account?

A: Yes, for more details, please visit and click on “my account” in order to add more vehicles to your account. Or, you can call Pay by Phone at 1-866-990-7275.

Q: How do I know if Pay by Phone is available where I parked?

A: The Pay by Phone signs will be well displayed in all of the locations where Pay by Phone is available. The signs will feature the Miami Parking Authority name, location number and steps to follow to pay with Pay by Phone.

Q: Can I use Pay by Phone in the parking lots?

A: Yes, you can use Pay by Phone in the parking spaces on the street as well as in those parking lots where Pay by Phone is available, as indicated on the signage.

Q: Can I obtain a payment receipt?

A: Yes, to print a receipt, please go to the Pay by Phone website and, once you have logged in, the system will show you the account history where all of your transactions are saved. You will need to select the date and print the receipt.

Q: Can I know in advance how much money will the parking session cost?

A: Rates are displayed on the signs posted where Pay by Phone is available.

Q: If I decide to move my vehicle to another space within the same general area during my parking session, do I need to pay again, or can I finish the parking session I had already paid for?

A: Yes, you can move your vehicle to another parking space as long as the location number you used to pay for parking with Pay by Phone is the same.

Q: Can foreign visitors register and use Pay by Phone when they visit Miami/Coral Gables/South Miami?

A: They can as long as they have a credit card which can be used for purchases in the United States.

Q: If yes, what kind of information do they need to provide to register?

A: A cell phone number, a credit card number and the tag of the vehicle they will be using.

Q: Can the information be displayed on the mobile app in languages other than English?

A: The system currently is available in English, French and Spanish.

Q: Is it possible to receive a citation/ticket even though I paid with Pay by Phone?

A: Although this is unlikely to occur, you will to review the copy of your Pay by Phone receipt to ensure the location number and time for which you paid matches the space where your vehicle was parked and is within the time indicated on your citation. If you entered the right location number, or if your time had not expired, please call our Customer Service Department at (305) 373-6789 to request a citation waiver.
