MPA Holiday Parking Rewards Celebrate the Season

December 01, 2011

MIAMI, Nov. 29, 2011 – Miami Parking Authority has announced a new, expanded Holiday Parking Rewards program for 2011 to show appreciation for its customers’ loyalty throughout the year.

For the entire month of December, one on-street parking customer per day will be selected at random to receive one week of free, unlimited on-street parking. MPA’s parking enforcement officers will select the 31 winners throughout MPA’s service area, which includes downtown, Brickell, Coconut Grove, Midtown, the Design District, Allapattah, Coral Way and other neighborhoods. Winners must be registered with MPA’s Pay by Phone service to redeem their free-parking reward.

Users of MPA’s parking garages also have the opportunity to win free-parking rewards. Hourly parkers in MPA’s Courthouse Center, Cultural Center, College Station and Oak Avenue (Coconut Grove) garages will be selected at random to receive a coupon valid for one free garage visit of up to 24 hours. One winner will be selected every day for the entire month, for a total of 31 rewards.

One monthly-contract parker at each of these four garages will be selected at random to receive a free one-month extension of their contract, for a total of four awards.

MPA’s traditional Holiday Courtesy Citation program also returns for December. On-street parkers whose meters have expired will be issued a special “Holiday Courtesy Citation” explaining that they have been granted up to one free hour of parking beyond their expiration time, thus avoiding a parking ticket.

The Holiday Courtesy Citation program runs 24 hours per day, every day throughout December. Parkers must have purchased parking at a single-space meter, a Pay & Display master meter, or via Pay by Phone in order to be eligible for the courtesy time extension.

“Customers often have a choice when they park, and we appreciate it when they select MPA for convenient and affordable parking,” said MPA Chief Executive Officer Art Noriega. “We hope our customers will use these free-parking rewards to visit friends and family, enjoy an evening on the town, take care of shopping or errands, or perhaps perform a random act of kindness during this holiday
