THOMAS B. JELKE, Ph.D., Chairperson of the MPA Board of Directors, is President and CEO of t.jelke solutions, a consulting firm offering assessment, curriculum development, research, strategic planning and leadership training services for universities, non-profits, and fraternal organizations. Dr. Jelke was born and raised in the city of Miami and he has taught at Florida State University, Indiana University, and Florida International University. Dr. Jelke has also served in various staff positions on Semester at Sea, including Executive Dean. He is the Immediate Past Chairman of the Board of the Association of Fraternity Advisors Foundation, sits on the National Board of Directors for Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, and is the current Chairman for the Thomas B. Jelke Foundation. He also serves on an advisory board for the Actor's Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre. Elected in 2005.
ARTHUR H. HERTZ is Chairman and CEO of Wometco Enterprises, Inc., a private company that owns the Miami Seaquarium, among other businesses. Mr. Hertz serves on numerous civic and professional organizations including the, Mitchell Wolfson Sr. Foundation, the University of Miami Board of Trustees and the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau. He is past president of the Orange Bowl Committee. Elected in 1987.
JAMI REYES is president of the government relations/corporate communications firm Jami Reyes & Co., specializing in the real estate and development sectors. Ms. Reyes serves on the board of the Builders Association of South Florida and on the executive board of the Latin American Business Association. In 2002, Miami Mayor Manny Diaz appointed Reyes to the City of Miami Homeland Defense / Neighborhood Improvement Bond Oversight Board where she chairs the Communications sub-committee. Elected in 2003.
MARLON A. HILL is a founding partner of the law firm delancyhill, P.A. and serves as outside general corporate counsel to corporations, entrepreneurs, small businesses, and not-for-profit organizations, especially in the industries of media, tourism, arts and entertainment. Mr. Hill is a past president of the Caribbean Bar Association, an inaugural member of The Miami Foundation Miami Fellows Initiative, a board member of The Miami Foundation, Florida Association for Volunteer Action in the Caribbean and Americas (FAVACA), Miami Light Project, Konbit for Haiti and a member of the Orange Bowl Committee. Mr. Hill also previously served as the Jamaican Diaspora Advisory Board Member for the Southern United States (2006-2011). He is the host of a weekly radio commentary, “D’ Peoples Politics”, on WZAB 88AM, every Saturday at 4pm. Elected in 2003.
STEPHEN NOSTRAND is Chief Executive Officer at Colliers International South Florida. He has been a South Florida resident for 35 years and a commercial real estate executive for 35 years, focusing on investment sales, financing and project management for development clients. Mr. Nostrand is a professor in the Master’s Program for Real Estate Development and Urbanism at the University of Miami. He has served on the Advisory Board for the University of Denver Trustees in evaluating real estate strategies. Mr. Nostrand is the Finance Chair of the Miami Parking Authority and the Treasurer of the Greater Miami and the Beaches Hotel Association. He was one of the founders of the Greater Miami Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. He also served for 12 years as a board member and chairman of the executive committee for a community bank. Elected in 2007.
